On January 25, 2025, employees of the State Environmental Inspection (Control) in the Cherkasy region, along with inspectors from the patrol police's water facilities unit, conducted an operation in the area of the Kremenchuk Reservoir on the Dnieper River.
Within the administrative boundaries of the city of Cherkasy, two individuals were found engaged in fishing using spinning methods and snagging. They illegally caught the following fish: 265 chubs, 31 roaches, 18 breams, 17 perch, 10 flatfish, and 2 asp. Protocols were drawn up against the offenders under part 4 of Article 85 of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offenses (КУоАП).
A crime scene investigation team from the Cherkasy police department of the National Police of Ukraine was summoned to establish the circumstances of the offense. The police confiscated the illegal fishing tools and the caught fish.
As a result of the operation, the estimated amount of damage inflicted on the state was calculated to be 542,946 hryvnias.
