According to the publication, the incident occurred during a public tour of the British Parliament, which included a "small group" of diplomats from the Russian embassy.

At one point, the Russians strayed from the tour and entered a restricted-access room in the House of Lords. They were discovered by security and escorted out.

Following the incident, members of Parliament and their colleagues received a written warning from the speakers of both houses not to invite Russian diplomats to the Parliament.

Since 2022, the Russian ambassador, diplomats, and staff of the Russian embassy in London have been prohibited from visiting the UK Parliament due to Moscow's full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
