On November 4, an incident occurred in the Holosiivskyi district of Kyiv involving a Mercedes-Benz bus, resulting in one fatality and four individuals hospitalized. The bus driver has been notified of the suspicion against him.
This information comes from RBK-Ukraine citing the press service of the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office.
The Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office announced suspicions against the 39-year-old bus driver for violating traffic safety rules, which led to serious bodily harm and death (part 2 of article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The article's sanctions stipulate a penalty of imprisonment from 3 to 8 years, with a possible ban on driving vehicles for up to 3 years or without such a ban.
According to the investigation, the bus driver exceeded the speed limit while driving on Akademika Zabolotnoho Street, which resulted in a collision with a Mitsubishi L200 vehicle.
The impact caused the Mitsubishi to be pushed into a Niva vehicle. Both cars were stopped in the roadway for repairs on one of them, which had broken down during transit. After the collision, the bus veered off the road uncontrollably.
As a result of the accident, one man standing near the Mitsubishi L200 was killed on the spot. The driver of that vehicle sustained severe injuries, while two others with moderate injuries were taken to the hospital. The bus driver also suffered multiple traumas.
