This event holds great significance.
Основное климатическое событие года: Светлана Гринчук поделилась информацией о подготовке Украины к нему.

The head of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine, Svitlana Hrynchuk, shares this on her Facebook page.

“As Ukraine prepares for one of the major climate events of the year, what ideas it will convey to the world and what agreements will be made with allies – these questions were discussed with members of parliament, experts, diplomats, the public, and business representatives during the forum 'Ukraine – at the Climate Conference COP29.' Traditionally, the aim of participating in this event is to strengthen Ukraine's position in the global agenda, amplify the country's voice, and develop partnerships. Additionally, this is already the third Climate Summit where Ukraine will have its own pavilion,” Svitlana Hrynchuk stated.

She also added that despite the war, Ukraine has significant progress to showcase in its state policy.

“Despite the full-scale war, we can tell the world about the shifts in our state policy. The framework climate law has been approved. It has set our goal – to achieve climate neutrality by 2050, which aligns with the timeline established by the European Union. This means we are strengthening our position on the path to 'green' recovery and financing our projects. At COP29, we will actively collaborate with partners for 'green' transformation and economic growth. Ukraine's goals are long-term and sustainable. Work continues on the new Nationally Determined Contribution and updating the low-carbon strategy. We are not abandoning our pre-war goals – to achieve European environmental standards. We will actively develop specific steps with partners to implement Point 8 of President Volodymyr Zelensky's Peace Formula regarding environmental security. Many operational tasks need to be addressed at the conference,” Svitlana Hrynchuk writes.

Furthermore, the topic of COP in Baku is the role of youth in the climate agenda. This is very important for Ukraine, as youth play a crucial role during the war. Last year, during COP28, Ukraine joined the International Declaration on Children, Youth, and Climate Actions, and we will continue to strengthen our efforts in this area.
