In New Orleans (USA), a vehicle crashed into a crowd of people during New Year celebrations. Local authorities suspect that this may have been a terrorist attack.

"We know that the city of New Orleans has suffered from a terrorist attack," stated New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell.

She clarified that the investigation into the tragedy is ongoing.

At the same time, as CNN reports, one of the representatives from the Federal Bureau of Investigation told journalists that the incident is "not a terrorist event."

It was later revealed that FBI agents are examining homemade explosive devices found at the scene of the incident.

"Homemade explosive devices were found, and we are working to confirm whether this device is functional or not," said Alethea Duncan, assistant special agent in charge of the FBI office in New Orleans.

She did not specify how many homemade explosive devices were discovered.

The Driver was Shot

According to ABC News, police representatives reported that when the driver of the white pickup truck was attempting to run over people, he was also firing a gun. However, after the suspect exited the vehicle, he was shot.
