Illegal fishing operation cost a million: The State Ecological Inspectorate has halted a large-scale violation.

At the Kaniv Reservoir near the city of Pereyaslav, a violation of commercial fishing regulations has been recorded. The amount of compensation for the damages caused is 1,073,669 hryvnias.

On November 11, 2024, inspectors from the State Ecological Inspection of the Capital Region discovered a violation of commercial fishing rules by a net fisherman, who is one of the users of aquatic biological resources, at the Kaniv Reservoir near Pereyaslav.

The violator was fishing without the necessary documents as required by subparagraph 7 of paragraph 2 of section III of the Rules of Industrial Fishing in Internal Fishery Water Bodies, approved by the Ministry of Agrarian Policy order dated April 10, 2023, No. 785.

During the violation, the offender caught the following types of fish: common zander – 264 specimens, silver crucian carp – 1 specimen, common roach – 31 specimens, flatfish – 49 specimens, with a total weight of 97 kilograms.

Based on the identified fact, a protocol on the administrative offense was drawn up against the citizen under part three of Article 85 of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offenses. A ruling was issued imposing an administrative penalty, and the amount of compensation for the damages caused was calculated, totaling 1,073,669 hryvnias.

Inspectors from the State Ecological Inspection continue to carry out activities aimed at the protection, preservation, utilization, and reproduction of fish resources.
