Russian forces launched a combined strike against Ukraine using missiles and drones. Air defense managed to intercept more than half of the drones and one Kh-59/69 missile.
This was reported by RBK-Ukraine referencing Telegram of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Air Force.
"On the night of November 1, the enemy struck with three guided aerial missiles Kh-59/69 from the airspace of the temporarily occupied Kherson region, and also attacked with 48 strike drones of the 'Shahed' type and unidentified drones from the directions of Oryol and Kursk," the statement reads.
The enemy's tactical aviation carried out strikes with guided aerial bombs on Kharkiv, Sumy regions, and Zaporizhzhia.
The aerial assault was countered by anti-aircraft missile troops, aviation, electronic warfare units, and mobile fire groups of the Air Forces and Defense Forces of Ukraine.
"As of 08:00, the destruction of 31 enemy drones has been confirmed, 14 drones have been lost in terms of location, and three drones flew towards Belarus. Additionally, the air defense managed to shoot down one guided aerial missile Kh-59/69; the others, due to active countermeasures, did not reach their targets," the Air Forces noted.
Air defense operations were conducted in Kirovohrad, Kyiv, Cherkasy, Vinnytsia, Zhytomyr, Khmelnytskyi, Sumy, Chernihiv, and Poltava regions.
An alert was declared in Kyiv and parts of the regions due to the threat of drones around 3:00 AM. Additionally, almost at the same time, an explosion was heard in the Kharkiv area. Prior to that, launches of guided aerial bombs towards Kharkiv were recorded.
Furthermore, it should be noted that Kharkiv and Derhachi were shelled by Russia after midnight as well. Residential infrastructure was damaged, and there were casualties.
Moreover, as a result of the Russian missile and drone attack, several civilian enterprises were damaged due to falling debris; multi-apartment and private houses in Poltava, Cherkasy, Kyiv, and Odesa regions were also affected.
