Польские фермеры могут снова заблокировать границу с Украиной. Когда стоит ожидать этого события?

Polish farmers may resume blocking border checkpoints with Ukraine. This could happen as early as December this year.

One of the leaders of the protesters, Roman Kondrov, stated this, as reported by RBK-Ukraine referencing pap.pl.

According to him, Polish farmers temporarily halted the blockade of border checkpoints with Ukraine. However, protests may resume in December and will be much larger in scale.

In particular, it is known that Polish carriers held talks with Poland's Minister of Agriculture, Czesław Siekierski. They agreed that by November 26, farmers would present their demands, and a response would be provided by December 10.

"What will be decided, when, and how these demands can be fulfilled simultaneously is impossible, as they require a series of regulatory decisions. Therefore, this will be a schedule of tasks with deadlines," Siekierski clarified.

It is noted that Polish farmers expect the government and the Polish Sejm to oppose the free trade agreement between the European Union and South American countries.

"We will suspend the protest action, but we will not abandon it. If the agreements are not fulfilled, we will return, but it will be a mass protest action across the entire eastern border of Poland," Kondrov stated.

Border Blockade by Farmers

On November 23, Polish farmers blocked the "Medyka-Szeginy" checkpoint on the border with Ukraine, restricting truck traffic while allowing passenger cars and buses to pass.

The protesters claimed they were striking due to unmet demands regarding taxes and the signing of a free trade agreement by the EU with South American countries. None of the reasons pertain to Ukraine.

The Ministry of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine informed RBK-Ukraine that Polish farmers have no complaints regarding Ukrainian goods, and their protest is aimed at pressuring their own government. On November 24, they unblocked the Ukrainian checkpoint.
