The prosecutor's office has launched an investigation into the shooting of Ukrainian prisoners of war in the Donetsk region.

The prosecutor's office has initiated a pre-trial investigation into the criminal case regarding the execution of Ukrainian soldiers in the Donetsk region.

This was reported by RBK-Ukraine with a link to the Office of the Prosecutor General.

According to the prosecutor's office, operational data indicates that on January 3, 2024, during an assault on Ukrainian forces near the village of Vremovka in the Volnovakha district, the occupiers captured two servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The prisoners were taken out of the bunker under the aim of automatic rifles and executed at point-blank range in the head. To ensure their deaths, the Russians fired several more shots.

"The execution of prisoners of war is a serious violation of the Geneva Conventions and is classified as a grave international crime. Investigative actions are currently underway to establish all the circumstances of the crime and the individuals involved in its commission," the prosecutor's office reported.

Execution of Ukrainian Soldiers

Today, Ombudsman of Ukraine Dmytro Lubinets announced that Russian soldiers executed Ukrainian servicemen in the Donetsk region. The incident occurred near the settlement of Neskuchne in the Volnovakha district of Donetsk region.

Recall that one of the most massive executions was the shooting of 16 Ukrainian soldiers in the Pokrovsk direction. Law enforcement agencies have already identified the unit of the occupiers that could have carried out the execution.
