The damage exceeds 11 million hryvnias: the State Environmental Inspection uncovered shocking violations at a landfill site.

In 2021, an unscheduled inspection was conducted at the Production Cooperative "Ecology," which is involved in the disposal of solid household waste at a landfill near the village of Abrikosovo in the Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi district of the Odesa region.

The inspection revealed that the landfill lacks a system for extracting and neutralizing leachate.

The damage caused by the pollution of land resources amounts to 11 million 300 thousand 250 UAH. The inspection sent a claim to the "Ecology" Cooperative for voluntary payment of this amount; however, the enterprise refused to compensate for the damages.

The matter was resolved through the courts. On October 9, 2024, the Economic Court of the Odesa region agreed with the arguments of the inspection and fully satisfied the claim of the Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi District Prosecutor's Office for the recovery of damages from the "Ecology" Cooperative in favor of the state.

The approved decision is a significant step in the fight to preserve our environment, demonstrating that violations of environmental regulations carry consequences.
