Russians attempted to cross the Dnipro near the Antonivskiy Bridge but didn't make it halfway.

Russian soldiers attempted to cross the Dnieper near the Antonivka Bridge close to Kherson. However, they were unable to even reach the middle of the river.

This was stated by the spokesperson for the Southern Defense Forces of Ukraine, Vladislav Voloshin, as reported by RBK-Ukraine citing the Telegram channel "We are Ukraine".

According to him, this attempt by the Russians was not extraordinary, as the occupiers try daily to seize islands in the Dnieper or establish a foothold on the right bank.

"Yesterday, the enemy increased the number of artillery shelling and began firing specifically from multiple rocket launchers and heavy artillery at Kherson and its suburbs. During this artillery barrage, they attempted to cross with a small group near the Antonivka Bridge," Voloshin explained.

He noted that the Defense Forces acted preemptively, which is why some enemy assets were unable to deploy and remained at their concentration points.

"Although the shelling was quite intense, resulting in casualties and damage to homes and infrastructure, the enemy could not even reach the middle of the Dnieper," Voloshin emphasized.

Intensification of Shelling in Kherson

Recall that on the night of December 20, massive shelling from the enemy was reported in Kherson. The Russians began targeting residential areas, social, and critical infrastructure with artillery.

This led to casualties in the city, with reports of more than 10 injured. Due to the shelling, there were issues with electricity supply in Kherson. Up to 60,000 subscribers in the Kherson region were left without electricity.

It was also reported that Russian sabotage and reconnaissance groups attempted to advance towards Kherson, but they were neutralized.
