Russian military forces may have executed Ukrainian prisoners of war near Ugledar. Five soldiers may have lost their lives there.
This information comes from RBK-Ukraine citing the Office of the Prosecutor General.
According to the prosecutor's office, at the beginning of October, Russian troops launched an assault on the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine near Ugledar.
During the offensive, the Russians captured five unarmed Ukrainian defenders. One of them was killed in a forested area, while the other four were taken under the aim of automatic weapons and led to a road where they were also shot.
"The killing of prisoners of war is a severe violation of the Geneva Conventions and is classified as a serious international crime," the prosecutor's office reported.
Under the procedural guidance of the Donetsk regional prosecutor's office, a pre-trial investigation has been initiated in a criminal case regarding the commission of a war crime that resulted in loss of life (part 2 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
Earlier, we reported that in the Pokrovsk direction, the invaders executed two Ukrainian warriors. They were captured and subsequently executed.
Additionally, in early November, the Commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for Human Rights, Dmytro Lubinets, stated that the Russians likely executed two Ukrainian prisoners of war in the Kursk region.
