The warmest year on record: Kyiv has set over 50 temperature records in 2024.

This was reported by RBK-Ukraine citing the Central Geophysical Observatory.

According to climatologists, in 2024, air temperatures exceeded the long-term averages in every month. February and September were particularly notable, showing the largest positive deviations of 5.2 degrees and 5.7 degrees, respectively.

The coldest day was January 9, with a temperature of minus 15.8 degrees, while the hottest day was July 16, when the temperature in the shade reached plus 36.0 degrees.

In total, 52 temperature records were set in Kyiv in 2024, with the highest number occurring in April - 13 and July - 14.

Precipitation totaled 642 mm, which corresponds to 104% of the climatic norm. However, the distribution over time was very uneven, with nearly two monthly norms in April and June, and only 23% and 36% of the long-term averages in May and September.

As reported by RBK-Ukraine, the average air temperature in autumn 2024 in Kyiv was 11.4 degrees Celsius, which is 2.7 degrees above the long-term averages.

The average summer temperature in 2024 in Kyiv was 23.0 degrees Celsius, which is 2.6 degrees above the climatic norm. Summer ranked second after the summer of 2010 (23.7 degrees) among the warmest summers in the capital since 1881. Eighteen temperature records were set during the summer.
