The Security Service of Ukraine and the Office of the Prosecutor General have gathered evidence against a Russian war criminal involved in the deportation of Ukrainian children during the occupation of the Mykolaiv region.

This was reported by RBK-Ukraine citing the SBU press service.

The suspect is Jabrail Yusupov, commander of a platoon in the 205th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade of the Russian Armed Forces, with the call sign "Gabriel."

In July 2022, under his command, 20 armed soldiers stormed the captured Novopetrovsk special school and abducted 15 children along with the school director and her husband.

The children were transported to Crimea and then to Anapa in the Krasnodar region of the Russian Federation, where they were held for almost a month in one of the resorts, forced to sing the anthem of the aggressor country every morning.

In November 2022, thanks to a charitable organization, the children were transported out of Russia to third countries, from where they were returned home.

The SBU has notified Yusupov of suspicion under part 2 of Article 28 and part 1 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine for violating the laws and customs of war. Efforts to locate and hold him accountable are ongoing.
