The court may impose a preventive measure on the people's deputy Yevhen Shevchenko within the next few hours. He is suspected of treason.
This was reported by RBK-Ukraine, citing a statement from the spokesperson of the State Bureau of Investigations, Tatyana Sapyian, during a telethon.
"I hope that a preventive measure will be chosen for him in the coming hours. The prosecution will request custody since the crime is very serious - this falls under Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (treason)," noted Sapyian.
She reminded that the deputy faces life imprisonment and confiscation of all his property.
Recall that earlier Ukrainian law enforcement officials reported that the deputy was informed of his suspicion of treason.
Sources from RBK-Ukraine clarified that it concerns the notorious Yevhen Shevchenko. The State Bureau of Investigations established that he was engaged in subversive activities in the interests of the aggressor state.
In particular, the parliamentarian was actively spreading fake news about the command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and beyond.
Moreover, after the onset of the full-scale war, the deputy repeatedly visited Belarus and negotiated electricity purchases for the companies under his control.
