We are deepening cooperation with Azerbaijan. During the COP29, we signed a Memorandum of Cooperation between the Ministry of Environment and the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Azerbaijan.
This year, Baku is successfully hosting the UN Climate Summit, where we met with the Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of Azerbaijan and the President of COP29, Mukhtar Babayev. The Memorandum we signed is a logical continuation and expansion of the initiatives laid out during COP29.
Our countries have a rich history of collaboration in preparation for this event. We will enhance our cooperation in developing environmental technologies, waste management, biodiversity conservation, restoration of contaminated areas, prevention of industrial pollution, and more.
Azerbaijan is also our partner in countering armed aggression. We have received assistance from Azerbaijan in humanitarian demining. This issue will remain relevant for our nations for many years to come, which is why we are joining forces in this area.
Baku is actively supporting Ukrainian children in their rehabilitation process after the war. More than 200 Ukrainian children have visited Azerbaijan, where they received social and psychological support. It is expected that an additional 60 Ukrainian children will have the opportunity to enjoy a rest program in Azerbaijan soon. The theme of this COP is the participation of youth in climate initiatives, which is particularly significant for our youth during the war.
Thank you to my counterpart Mukhtar Babayev for the productive dialogue and to his team for their assistance in preparing for COP29. I hope this marks the beginning of our joint efforts on major and important projects of global significance.
