In Russia, trains collided, causing dozens of coal cars to derail.

A train accident occurred in the southeast region of Russia on Sunday, December 22, involving a collision between two freight trains.

A train accident occurred in the southeastern region of Russia on Sunday, December 22. Two freight trains collided there.

This was reported by RBK-Ukraine citing the Prosecutor's Office of the Russian Federation.

According to Russian sources, the accident took place this morning in the Trans-Baikal region. The collision involved two freight trains carrying coal.

As a result of the accident, 42 cars derailed: 35 from the first train and seven from the second.

The Russian Prosecutor's Office claims that there is supposedly no threat to the environment, nor any casualties. Train operations on the section where the accident occurred have been halted. The Prosecutor's Office stated that it would investigate whether safety and operational regulations of the railway transport were followed.

Recall that a similar accident occurred in November in Russia. In Bashkortostan, 22 cars loaded with coal derailed.

Additionally, it should be noted that partisans carried out a sabotage operation on the railway in the Rostov region of Russia. Agents of the partisan movement "Atesh" burned a relay cabinet on the main railway line connecting Russia and the occupied part of the Donetsk region.
