In central Kyiv, the debris removal has been completed following the Shahed drone strike that occurred three days ago.

Following the Russian strike on Kyiv using Shahed-type drones on New Year's Eve, which took place on January 1, the debris has now been cleared. Efforts to address the aftermath of the attack in the city center lasted for three days.

Following the Russian strike on Kyiv using "Shahed" drones on New Year's night, January 1, the debris removal has been completed. Efforts to mitigate the aftermath of the shelling in the capital's center lasted for three days.

This information was reported by RBK-Ukraine citing the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SES).

"In Kyiv, rescuers have finished clearing the rubble of a residential building in the Pechersk district, which was damaged as a result of the attack by the Russians on January 1," emergency services stated.

The SES added that as a result of that airstrike by the Russian army in the center of Ukraine's capital, two people died and four others were injured. Additionally, emergency responders rescued four civilians.

"Over three days, rescuers from the SES, municipal services, and volunteers worked at the site. During the operation, they removed and dismantled five concrete slabs, transporting more than 850 tons of construction debris," the Service reported.

It was also noted that a total of 382 rescuers and 117 units of SES equipment were involved in addressing the aftermath of the enemy attack.

Furthermore, emergency responders showcased photos from the site of operations in Kyiv following the drone attack on January 1.

The "Shahed" Attack on Kyiv on New Year's Night

Earlier reports indicated that on the night of January 1, Russian occupiers launched strike drones of the "Shahed" type towards Kyiv. Explosions were heard in the capital, and air defense systems were activated.

It was later revealed that the enemy targeted the capital's center with kamikaze drones, with impacts occurring in the Pechersk district, where fires also broke out. In particular, the roof of the National Bank building in Kyiv was set ablaze due to the "Shahed" strike.

As a result of the enemy attack, seven people were injured in Kyiv, and two individuals lost their lives. It became known that the victims included the renowned Ukrainian neurobiologist Igor Zima and his wife.

According to parliamentary speaker Ruslan Stefanchuk, administrative buildings of the Verkhovna Rada were damaged during the shelling of Kyiv on January 1.
