Ukrainian Consulate may replace the Russian one in Poznań, says Sikorski.

The Polish Foreign Minister, Sikorski, announced the possibility of establishing a Ukrainian consulate in the building of the Russian consulate in Poznań after its closure. This decision is driven by the increasing number of Ukrainians in Poland and their consular needs.
В Познани может открыться украинское генконсульство вместо российского, сообщил Сикорский.

The Polish Foreign Minister, Radoslaw Sikorski, stated that after the closure of the Russian consulate in Poznań, the building could potentially become a consulate for Ukraine if Kyiv submits an appropriate request. This was reported by RFM24 and noted by UNN.

Details

Sikorski emphasized that if Ukraine reaches out regarding the use of the building that will be vacated by the Russians to establish its own consulate in the city, Warsaw would respond favorably.

He explained that due to the rapid increase in the number of Ukrainians in Poland, the country currently lacks sufficient institutions to meet their needs.

He also highlighted that consulates handle various practical matters, including legal documents, births, deaths, and more.

Sikorski added that the closure of the Russian consulate in Poznań is a symbolic step that underscores Warsaw's stance on the necessity to counter any potential threats from Russia, as well as a demonstration of solidarity with Ukraine in its fight against Russian aggression.

Reminder

Radoslaw Sikorski announced an important meeting in the "Weimar Triangle Plus" format next week in Warsaw. Representatives from Ukraine, France, Germany, and other European countries have been invited to the negotiations.
