Over 2.3 million UAH - damage caused by land pollution from grinding paper waste in the Rivne region
As previously reported, in response to a request received by the Polissya District Environmental Inspection via the web resource "EcoThreat" regarding an unauthorized dump, specialists from the Inspection conducted an on-site visit to the specified coordinates on October 1, 2024.
Following the examination of the land plot on Builders Street in Rivne, it was confirmed that an area of 64 square meters (with an average layer thickness of 1 meter) was contaminated with grinding paper waste on communal land, which violates Article 96 of the Land Code of Ukraine and Article 35 of the Law of Ukraine "On Land Protection".
The individuals involved in the identified violation of environmental legislation have not been determined.
The State Ecological Inspection of the Polissya District has appealed to the Rivne City Council with a letter regarding the need to take measures as stipulated in Article 12 of the Law of Ukraine "On Waste Management".
The specialists of the Inspection conducted a forecast calculation of the damage inflicted on the state due to the contamination of land with abrasive household waste. The total amount of damage was calculated at 2,378,880 UAH.
In light of this, the State Ecological Inspection of the Polissya District forwarded the materials regarding this incident to the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Rivne region and the Rivne District Prosecutor's Office for further inclusion of information in the Unified Register of Pre-Trial Investigations under Article 239 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, and for the identification and prosecution of those responsible.
