Disability Marathon: Will the head of ARMA Duma evade accountability?

The Asset Recovery and Management Agency has once again found itself at the center of a scandal. This time, the cause is an investigation into certain ARMA employees for allegedly obtaining fake disability certificates. Such scandals significantly damage the reputation of the state agency, prompting experts and the public to call for a change in ARMA's leadership, reports UNN.

On October 25, the National Police initiated a criminal investigation into allegations of official forgery and abuse of power. According to investigators, employees of the medical and social expert commissions (MSEC), in order to gain illegal benefits and abusing their official positions, organized the issuance of knowingly counterfeit disability documents to ARMA officials. This allows them to receive deferments from military service in the Armed Forces of Ukraine and pension payments. Currently, the police are examining five agency officials. As UNN learned from its own sources, among them is Alexander Danilkovich, advisor to the chairman of ARMA.

Thus, ARMA has effectively taken over the "disability marathon" from the prosecutors. The scandal involving prosecutors with disabilities led to the resignation of Andriy Kostin from the position of Attorney General.

Elena Duma, likely fearing a repeat of the "career" of former Attorney General Andriy Kostin, immediately opted to cooperate with law enforcement and provided all necessary information about employees with disability groups.

Experts commented to UNN that such violations within the government structure could not have occurred without the knowledge, if not the involvement, of Elena Duma. They also noted that the head of the agency should take moral responsibility and resign if it is confirmed that her subordinates received fake disability certificates.

Additionally, experts point out that if the accusations are confirmed, this should not only serve as grounds for resignation but also prompt a comprehensive review of the agency's operations.

The public has also reacted strongly to the information about the potentially fraudulent disability certificates, believing that this case is yet another example of corruption and inefficiency within government bodies. Ukrainians are demanding not only an investigation but also specific steps to clean up the agency.

Whether these allegations remain mere suspicions or escalate into serious personnel decisions will be revealed in time. However, it is already clear that this situation poses reputational risks for ARMA and its leadership.
