In Dnipro, police and the Security Service of Ukraine apprehended a suspect involved in a terrorist act near the building of the Military Recruitment Center in the central part of the city. The individual is a 37-year-old local resident.
This was reported by RBK-Ukraine citing a statement from the police and a publication from the Security Service.
The suspect was located and detained within a few hours during operational activities conducted by the police and the Security Service. According to police data, preliminary investigations suggest that the suspect acted under the instructions of Russian special services.
As reported by the Security Service, the individual has now been taken to a police station. Searches are ongoing at the suspect's residence, and all necessary investigative actions are being conducted.
"As a result of the incident, one man has died, and four others were injured, including two police officers. The injured are currently in the hospital. Medical staff are fighting for their lives," the police added.
The event is currently classified as a terrorist act (part 3 of Article 258 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
"The detained individual faces life imprisonment. Investigative actions are ongoing," law enforcement officials summarized.
Earlier today, an explosion occurred in one of the central districts of Dnipro. It later became known that a military serviceman was a victim of the blast, and two law enforcement officers were injured.
Initially, local media reported a probable car explosion, but later information indicated that a homemade explosive device detonated at the entrance of the regional Military Recruitment Center.
Sources from RBK-Ukraine reported that the explosion in Dnipro was classified as a terrorist act.
At the end of November, sources from RBK-Ukraine reported a series of sabotage incidents in Ukraine targeting law enforcement and military personnel. Attempts on the lives of security forces were recorded, particularly in Kyiv.
