In the Transcarpathian region, over a third of schools have switched to remote learning. The reason for this is the increase in flu and acute respiratory viral infections (ARVI).
This was reported by RBK-Ukraine, citing the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration.
According to the director of the Department of Education, Science, Youth, and Sports of the Regional Military Administration, Mariyana Marusynets, 236 schools have transitioned to online learning, affecting 77,000 students.
Distance learning has been implemented in all schools across 13 communities in the region: Bedevlyansk, Velyky Bereznyi, Vynohradiv, Velyky Bychkiv, Horinchiv, Dovzhansk, Dubovsk, Dubrynytsko-Malobereznyansk, Mukachevo, Perechyn, Uzhhorod, Khust, and Yasinya.
As of today, 78 out of 586 kindergartens are closed.
In the past week, the incidence of flu and ARVI in Transcarpathia has risen by 36.4%. A total of 9,037 cases have been recorded, of which 5,677 are among children.
Mariyana Marusynets noted that the decision to implement remote learning is made by the pedagogical councils of educational institutions based on recommendations from relevant community commissions and epidemiologists. Meanwhile, some communities have already exited quarantine.
It should be noted that in Ukraine, the number of cases of flu, ARVI, and COVID-19 continues to rise. As a result, educational institutions are forced to temporarily switch to online learning or introduce quarantine measures. Currently, in addition to Transcarpathia, schools in Kyiv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Poltava, Lviv, and Chernivtsi regions are also transitioning to remote formats.
