The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has detained a Russian agent who, under the guise of "visiting his daughter," settled in the Donetsk region to adjust terrorist strikes.

This was reported by RBK-Ukraine, citing the Telegram channel of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU).

What happened

The agent turned out to be a 56-year-old citizen of the Russian Federation (RF), who arrived in Ukraine from Moscow just a few days before the full-scale war began, pretending to "visit" his daughter in the village of Raigorodok in the Kramatorsk district.

After February 24, 2022, he lived in the village and tried to lead an inconspicuous life. By the summer of 2024, the agent was "activated" by the Federal Security Service (FSB) and instructed to conduct reconnaissance of the Defense Forces' positions on the eastern front.

"After that, the Russian began to gradually scout the area near the front line, tracking the locations of fortifications and artillery of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He summarized the information he gathered and periodically sent it to the Russian special service to prepare airstrikes on the positions of Ukrainian troops," the SBU reports.

Subsequently, the FSB promised the agent to evacuate him to Moscow, but the SBU thwarted the enemy's plans.

During searches, a mobile phone was seized from the detainee, containing evidence of his communication with the Russian special service.

What are the consequences

The enemy agent has been notified of suspicion under part 3 of Article 114-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - dissemination of information about the movement, mobility, or location of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He faces up to 12 years in prison.

Recall that RBK-Ukraine reported that a well-known lawyer in Dnipro is suspected of working for the enemy. He was arrested while attempting to flee abroad.
