The Novoshakhtinsk Oil Refinery, located in the Rostov region of Russia, has suspended its operations. Equipment damage has been reported following an attack.
According to RBK-Ukraine, this was announced by the head of the Center for Counteracting Disinformation (CCD) Andrey Kovalenko in Telegram.
"The Novoshakhtinsk Oil Refinery, situated in the Rostov region of the Russian Federation, has currently halted operations after the attacks," Kovalenko wrote.
He reminded that last year the refinery processed, by various estimates, about 3 million tons of oil. The plant has the capacity to process 7.5 million tons, but attacks have prevented it from operating at full capacity.
Currently, there is equipment damage at the facility.
The last known attack on the refinery occurred on the night of December 19 last year. Acting Governor of the Rostov Region Yuri Slyusari stated that following the attack there was a fire at the Novoshakhtinsk Oil Products Plant.
At that time, Kovalenko mentioned that the oil refinery affected by the night attack in Russian Novoshakhtinsk plays a significant role for the defense industry of the Russian Federation.
On December 24 of last year, satellite images of the aftermath of the attack on the Novoshakhtinsk Oil Refinery appeared online. The images showed that during the attack at least one fuel tank was set on fire.
