Air defense shot down 90 "Shaheds" overnight: how many drones have the Russians launched at Ukraine in total?

On the night of Thursday, February 27, the Russian military launched 166 Shahed-type strike drones over Ukrainian territory. Air defense forces were active in 11 regions.

On the night of Thursday, February 27, the Russian army launched 166 Shahed-type strike drones over the territory of Ukraine. Air defense forces operated in 11 regions.

This information is reported by RBK-Ukraine citing Air Forces.

During the night of February 27, starting from 8:00 PM on February 26, the enemy attacked with 166 Shahed-type strike drones and various types of imitation drones.

The drones were launched from the following directions:

  • Orel;
  • Bryansk;
  • Millerovo;
  • Shatalovo;
  • Primorsko-Akhtarsk.

The air assault was repelled by aviation, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare units, and mobile fire groups of the Air Forces and Defense Forces of Ukraine.

As of 9:00 AM, the downing of 90 Shahed-type strike drones and other types of unmanned aerial vehicles has been confirmed in the Kharkiv, Poltava, Sumy, Kyiv, Chernihiv, Cherkasy, Vinnytsia, Khmelnytskyi, Kirovohrad, Mykolaiv, and Odesa regions.

Additionally, 72 enemy imitation drones were locally lost without negative consequences. As a result of the enemy attack, the Kyiv, Chernihiv, and Sumy regions were affected.

Night Attack by the Russians

Recall that last night, an air raid alert was declared in Kyiv and the Kyiv, Chernihiv, Sumy, Poltava, Kharkiv, Kirovohrad, Mykolaiv, Kherson, Dnipropetrovsk, and Donetsk regions.

Also late in the evening on February 26, a series of explosions occurred in Kyiv. The Kyiv City Military Administration warned Ukrainians about the threat of drone use. Furthermore, air defense forces were active in the Kyiv region to intercept Russian drones.

Moreover, repeated explosions in the capital were heard early in the morning on February 27. It was also reported that air defense systems were working in the capital.
