The Kyiv appellate court partially granted the appeal regarding the measure of restraint for Irpen's mayor, Oleksandr Markushyn. He has been placed under house arrest.
This is reported by RBK-Ukraine citing "Suspilne".
According to the court’s decision, Markushyn will be under round-the-clock house arrest.
The mayor of Irpen was released from custody in the courtroom.
Recall that Ukrainian law enforcement suspects Markushyn of organizing the illegal transportation of individuals across the state border.
According to the State Bureau of Investigation (DBR), Markushyn traveled to Poland in August 2022 and returned to Ukraine a few days later. During his trip, Markushyn was not on an official foreign assignment.
The mayor himself claims that he went to Poland with permission from the Kyiv Regional Military Administration and returned with drones for Ukrainian defenders.
On January 24, it became known that the court chose a measure of restraint for Markushyn in the form of detention. It was also provided for him to have the option to post bail of 30 million hryvnias.
However, already on January 28, the Pechersk District Court suspended Markushyn from his position as the mayor of Irpen.
