Details of the Terrorist Attack

It is known that around 14:00 on February 14, a report was received on the special line "102" about an explosion in a public place, resulting in casualties and injuries.

Within a day, during the search operations, law enforcement determined that residents of the Poltava region were involved in the attack - four minors aged 14 to 17 and a 42-year-old woman.

They were recruited by Russian special services through one of the popular messaging apps with an offer of quick earnings. According to the investigation, the teenagers created an improvised explosive device, placed it in a backpack, and handed it over to their 42-year-old accomplice. She was the executor of the crime and was supposed to receive a reward for allegedly delivering a "large sum of money" near the catering establishment in Mykolaiv.

The woman arrived in the city to carry out the task along with her minor son. Upon arriving at the location, she was in contact with her Russian special services handler and, under their orders, approached a group of military personnel. The improvised explosive device was then detonated remotely via a call to her mobile phone.

As a result of the explosion, she and three military personnel died, and seven civilians were hospitalized with injuries.

Law enforcement officials detained the four minors at their place of residence. During searches, SBU and police officers from the Mykolaiv and Poltava regions seized mobile phones containing evidence of contacts with Russian special services. They also confiscated tools and components for making improvised explosive devices.

The detained individuals have now been informed of their suspicion under Part 2 of Article 28, Part 3 of Article 258 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (terrorist act committed by a group of individuals in premeditated conspiracy leading to loss of life). The minors are in custody and face up to 15 years in prison.

RBK-Ukraine reported that on the afternoon of February 14, an explosion occurred in the center of Mykolaiv near a catering establishment. The police confirmed the explosion, specifying that it took place on Pohranichna Street. Reports indicated casualties and injuries.

It later became known that as a result of the explosion, three military personnel from the Center for Mine Action - two men and a woman - were killed.
