Due to ongoing Russian shelling, gas supply to homes in Pokrovsk has been halted. Residents are advised to turn off the gas valves on their appliances.
This information is reported by RBK-Ukraine citing "DONETSKOBLGAS".
According to the regional gas company, gas supply to Pokrovsk will be suspended on Thursday, December 12. The reason for this is significant damage to the gas pipeline caused by continuous Russian shelling, which has made it impossible to address the consequences of these attacks for the time being.
"Over the past few months, specialists from JSC 'DONETSKOBLGAS', despite the shelling, have done everything possible to ensure that the residents of Pokrovsk receive natural gas and can benefit from its use," the statement reads.
The regional gas company advised consumers to turn off the gas valves on their appliances and on the gas pipeline leading to those appliances. Residents in private homes are recommended to close the shut-off device on the gas pipeline entering their houses.
It is noteworthy that Pokrovsk is currently one of the most challenging sectors of the front. Preliminary reports indicate that Russian troops are positioned about 11 km from the city, prompting local authorities to urge residents to evacuate.
As clarified by Nazar Voloshin, a representative of the operational-strategic group of troops "Khortytsia", there are over 70,000 Russian soldiers in the Pokrovsk direction.
Earlier, we reported that President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that the Armed Forces of Ukraine will further reinforce the Pokrovsk direction.
At the same time, media sources believe that Russian forces are preparing to advance on Pokrovsk in the Donetsk region. This operation could be the culmination of the Russian offensive in this sector.
