Unknown drones have attacked a military airfield in the Saratov region of Russia. The consequences of the attack are currently unknown.

This was reported by RBK-Ukraine citing the Telegram channel "Meduza".

According to the regional head Roman Busargin, Russian air defense allegedly thwarted the drone attack on the military airfield in the Saratov region.

He stated that there are "no preliminary reports of destruction or casualties." However, he did not provide further details.

It is worth noting that the Russian Ministry of Defense has not reported any downed drones over the Saratov region.

Engels Airfield in the Saratov Region

It should be reminded that the Engels airfield is located in the Saratov region - this is where Russia launches Tu-95 and Tu-160 aircraft for missile strikes against Ukraine.

Additionally, it has been reported recently that Russia has transferred Su aircraft to the Engels airfield. Likely to protect them from strikes, as "Engels" is out of reach of American ATACMS ballistic missiles.

Not the First Attacks in the Saratov Region

At the beginning of November, we reported that a drone strike was possible in the Russian city of Saratov. Temporary restrictions on the arrival and departure of aircraft were introduced at the local airport. At that time, Governor of the Saratov region Roman Busargin warned of a drone attack threat.

Just a few days prior, sources from RBK-Ukraine reported that the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense attacked a refinery in Saratov.

We also noted that according to the Foreign Intelligence Service, three Russian oil refineries partially halted operations. This was due to unfinished repairs. Russians were unable to complete the repair work in October due to sanctions.
