The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has neutralized an enemy sabotage group operating in the Rivne region. The traitors detonated an improvised explosive device (IED) while a military convoy was in transit.

This was reported by RBK-Ukraine citing the Telegram channel of the Security Service of Ukraine.

What happened

"SBU employees stopped the convoy in advance at a safe distance from the incident site and secured the relevant location, which helped prevent an accident and casualties. After repairing the railway track, train movement was restored," the SBU stated.

The enemy agents were apprehended "in hot pursuit." They turned out to be two local residents, aged 30 and 32, who had been recruited by the enemy via Telegram. Following instructions, the detainees personally manufactured the IED using explosives obtained from a prepared stash.

"The perpetrators planted explosives under the tracks and remotely activated them as the military convoy approached. Thus, the enemy hoped to disrupt the railway logistics for supplying military cargo to Ukrainian troops on the front line," the SBU added.

During searches, components of the IED and mobile phones containing evidence of subversive activities were seized.

What they face

The detained individuals have been notified of suspicion under part 2 of Article 113 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - sabotage committed under martial law. They are currently in custody. They face life imprisonment.

Recall that RBK-Ukraine reported that the SBU recently neutralized a network of agents from the Federal Security Service (FSB) who were spying on well-known volunteers and officials of international organizations.
